Selecting the highest quality oral hygiene products for your family can be challenging when you view row upon row of products on the shelf. In addition, invasive marketing claims and colorful packaging can sometimes obscure the difference between a cosmetic oral hygiene product and one that can play a role in your daily oral hygiene routine.

To meet this need, the American Dental Association (ADA) instituted their Seal of Acceptance program in 1931. The program’s rigorous guidelines help to establish industry standards for the safety and effectiveness of oral hygiene products, and assure you, the buyer that the product is safe and will do what it says it does.

Participation in the program is strictly voluntary. If a manufacturer wants to display the ADA Seal of Acceptance on the product they can submit it to the ADA for testing and research.  Then, if the product meets the rigorous guidelines, it will earn the right to portray the Seal of Acceptance on the label and be indexed on the ADA’s website

If you have any questions about the safety and effectiveness of the oral hygiene products your family uses, or would like some recommendations suited to your family’s needs, you can always call Midlothian Dental Arts’s office in Midlothian, Virginia at 804-419-5155 to seek professional advice.
