There is Treatment for Jaw Pain and Headaches
TMJ, or temporomandibular joint, disorder is a complicated disorder. The cause is not entirely known, but the symptoms are chronic pain in the jaw muscles and frequent headaches. Oftentimes, this pain can radiate into the ear and feel like a toothache. TMJ is rarely a joint disorder, but is most often due to muscle spasm. The onset of TMJ can be either gradual or sudden. Because the causes of TMJ vary, it is extremely important to differentiate and properly diagnose each patient’s source of pain. Jaw clenching, teeth grinding, posture, and occlusion are common contributing factors to TMJ disorder. At Midlothian Dental Arts, Dr. Jeryl Abbott, Dr. Harmeet Chiang, and Dr. Ron Adelman have extensive experience in relieving pain through our TMJ treatment in Midlothian, Virginia.
